PoliciesKIMBERLY PUBLIC LIBRARY INTERNET AND COMPUTER USE POLICY INTRODUCTION: The Kimberly Public library offers Internet access for its patrons affording them expanded research opportunities. Some sites on the Internet are inappropriate for viewing in a public library. With this in mind, please use good judgement when choosing subjects and/or sites. Due to our lack of space, confidentiality and privacy while using the computer is not feasible. It is necessary for other library patrons to allow the user his/her privacy PURPOSE: Our primary role is to be a popular reading materials center. Our secondary role is to be a learning center for individuals pursuing a program of learning that is independent of any educational provider. The Internet provides these individuals access to information not available due to budget restrictions. COPIES: Copies are available. The first three (3) pages are free. Any additional copes are ten cents (.10) each. COPYRIGHT LAWS: Copyright Laws will be observed while using the computer. BEHAVIOR CODE: Altering or damaging computer equipment, software, or the printer will not be allowed. Inconsiderate behavior of another=s time on the computer by talking or laughing loudly, loitering nearby, pushing, jostling or intrusive Asharing@ also will not be allowed. These activities will result in a loss of Internet privileges. UNACCEPTABLE USES: Unacceptable uses include but are not limited to the following: financial gain or solicitation of funds, chat rooms, or non-Kimberly-Library-owned-CD=s DISCLAIMER:The Kimberly Public Library is not responsible for the accuracy of the materials seen on the Internet. Many times they are interpretive in origin and many present differing or conflicting viewpoints. We are not responsible for inappropriate choices made by students. Responsibility rests with the parent or legal guardian.USERS RESPONSIBILITY: First time users will be asked to sign an Internet Use Policy. Youth under 18 years of age will be required to also have a parent or guardian read and sign the policy granting permission and accepting the responsibility for Internet access. Children 8 years of age and under are to be accompanied by an adult to use the Internet. Use of the computer is on a first come first served basis. There is a time limit of 30 minutes per person when others are waiting.. You will be required to sign in with date, time, and name/number on a pad located by the computer. DO NOT SHUT DOWN THE COMPUTER WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED.
